A pop of colour in the garden and a burst of flavour for the pot! The pot marigold (Calendula officinalis) gets its name from a long history of use in cooking and herbal medicine that dates back to Roman times. Traditionally used to ease stomach cramps and constipation, tea made from Calendula flowers is also reportedly loaded with powerful skin-healing, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, while being gentle enough for use on children and animals. Calendula petals make a lovely flavourful tea with a complex flavour. Light fresh and very drinkable, Calendula tea has an earthy, slightly bitter base with a hint of spiciness and notes of pepper. herbal medicine that dates back to Roman times.
